When is the Amsterdam Light Festival this year?
This year, the Amsterdam light festival will take place from the 26th of November 2026 until the 17th of January 2027. This is the 15th edition of the festival. More information about the artworks will be announced later this year.
What is included in the Amsterdam Light Festival package?
You experience the Amsterdam Light Festival best from the water. As the city darkens, dozens of light artworks appear along the canals, transforming Amsterdam into a serene, almost magical setting. From a warm and comfortable boat, you will sail past the artworks, away from the crowds on the quays, with plenty of time to truly appreciate and enjoy the light art illuminating Amsterdam's central canals.
This private boat tour is exclusively for your own group. The boat can accommodate up to 30 people but is also suitable for a smaller group.
Our experienced captain navigates calmly through the beautifully lit canals and share more about the artworks and the city along the way. With unlimited (hot and cold) drinks, catering options, and extra comfort, the evening is yours to decide.
What route do you take during the Amsterdam Light Festival?
During the festival, you will sail a special route through the historic central canals and past all the artworks. This year, the sailing route takes you along the Herengracht and around the eastern part of Amsterdam, with views of, among others:

The National Maritime Museum
Amsterdam Central Station
The Skinny Bridge
Various light artworks spread across the most famous canals
Is the Amsterdam Light Festival boat open or covered?
During the Amsterdam Light Festival, we sail with a covered boat, so you can stay warm and comfortable even during the cold winter months. Aboard, enjoy a (hot) drink in hand and the best views of the illuminated canals and light artworks.
Boarding location and duration
The boat departs just before Amsterdam Central Station, near Stationsplein 18. After that, we sail for 1.5 hours past all the artworks.
